JAMAICA BEACH - The entire 35 miles of Galveston beaches were packed with beach goers Saturday and Sunday, Labor Day weekend.  Elbow to elbow, they set up their tents and canopies, beach furniture, Hibachis.  There were surfboards, kayaks, fishing poles, parasails, dune buggies, RVs.  Camp spots were side by side.  If one wanted a private spot on the beach on those days, too bad.  The people next to you might as well have been part of your party.

Today however was a different story.  The winds picked up the water started splashing up near what used to be dunes.  The word of Tropical Storm Hermine spread up and down the beach, and the beach goers fled, many of them leaving their camping equipments, shoes, bathing suits, and other item they usually pack up and take home with them.

We took a ride on Jamaica Beach this morning.  Ride with us and see what we saw.

Jamaica Beach Police Officer Mike Todaro snapped these pictures of a windsurfer while patrolling on Labor Day.

Comments:

Breck, did you actually see Hitachi's on the beach? Damn. I guess they would rather watch TV than actually cook something to eat on their Hibachi's.
Heh, Heh, Heh.........

Oops! Sometime our Bs and Ts get mixed up. Thanks
