GALVESTON - Stewart Beach has been closed by the Galveston Beach Patrol due to high tides caused by Tropical Storm Hermine which continues to whirl in Campeche Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
It was reported that Boddecker Road on the far east end of Galveston Island is under water. Galveston Police were directing all traffic from the east end and the area known as Cherry Hill,
causing traffic tie-ups in the area.
A beach patrol spokesperson told The Police News they do not close beaches along the seawall except during hurricanes, but they advise the public to stay off the beaches while water is in the
current turblulent condition.
